Advocates for Children
Mission Statement
To improve the quality of life for abused, abandoned and neglected children in the 14th Circuit by providing funds for services, necessities, recreation and volunteer support that are not provided by any other source.
Purpose
Advocates For Children Inc. is a 501(c) 3 charity that directly supports the mission of the Guardian ad Litem Program which is to advocate for abused and neglected children in the 14th Judicial Circuit. Through Fundraising events and donations, Advocates for Children provides assistance for such things as clothing, birthday and holiday gifts, field trips, graduation and after school programs as well as assistance with extra curricular events such as boy scouts, girl scouts, athletics, summer camps, band instruments and more.
Benefit
The financial assistance directly benefits the children in obvious tangible ways, but the intangibles can be even more important. Many of the kids we support live traumatic, volatile lives with very little sense of traditional stability or normalcy. Assistance from Advocates gives kids access to participate in normal activities. Ultimately, this helps kids build social skills, confidence, self-esteem and most importantly to help them feel like they are indeed important and that people care about them.
